Shocking Ways Mommy Shaming has made me a better Mom!

We have all seen it in the movies, know someone who is the recipient, or might be the Mom shaming bully herself. Mom Shaming is common and defined as moms bullying other moms based on the choices that they are making regarding pregnancy and parenting.

If I think back honestly, mom-shaming happened for me with my mom and mother-in-law, unknowingly shaming me for my choices. You know the myths regarding quarters, alcohol, and oatmeal in bottles.

Those comments made me feel like I was doing it all wrong as a new mom.

From those encounters, we have possibly become mommy-shamers ourselves? Have you made comments on another mom choosing to formula feed vs. breastfeed?

Have you commented about the mom who desires to work and not stay at home with her kids? What about providing your opinion about her baby milestones?

What about the mom that has not lost the baby's weight after a few months of giving birth?

We have all done this, whether with people we know or celebrities. Motherhood is tough, and the journey is lonely. No one understands motherhood as we do, and no one likes to feel ridiculed for the choices we make, as we all are doing the best we can we the options life has presented to us.

So the next time you feel the urge to shame another mom on her choices, remember your comments can tear her down.

Let's choose to encourage, support, and inspire our Moms.

Don't judge people for the choices that they make when you don't know the options they had to chose from. - Unknown

Until next time Mom Tribe, stay well.
