Your triggers and emotional reactions are reminders of what still needs to be healed. - UNKNOWN
Have you ever had something so small or petty happen to you, and your reaction was so much bigger than the act? Or have you ever heard one of the elderly people say, "they must have hit a nerve"? If so, you may have reacted to an emotional trigger.
A trigger does not always include what people say. It can be a sound, a smell, or the sight of something that takes our mind back to that experience in time. When I got pregnant when I was a teenager, my dad expressed how disappointed he was in me. It was shattering to me, so every time I hear that would, especially if it's used towards me, I shut down.
Sometimes what needs to be healed is buried so deep inside that it's hard to identify the things that hurt us. However, because that hut reminds the trauma, I encourage you to explore that hurt. Through us uncovering the hurt and pain, we can heal from our triggers and emotional reactions.
Until Next Time Mom Tribe, let's start the journey of healing together.
