The Woes of when you can no longer control your kids.
You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. ~Maya Angelou
As a parent of children in their teen and adulthood, its easy to be on a emotional rollercoaster. You want the best for your kids and provide advice for a better life, only for them to not want the best for themselves.
As our kids get older, our roles change to more of an idle figure, the hardest thing is seeing your kids go down the wrong path and make life harder for themselves. I have spent the last few months in tears most days, realizing that I can not allow myself to be reduced by their choices.
It's hard to let go, to let them make horrible mistakes that they will not be able to come back from or will be hard to get out of, but it's necessary. If you are going through a trying time with your teen, know that you are not alone, through it all make sure you take care of your mental health and take care of you.
The problems you will face with your teen may not go away and you need the strength to endure the marathon.
