As women, we often hear how strong we are, but is that term to our detriment? What does that term mean, and how have "strong women" been portrayed in society?
As a mom, we have gone through so much to bring our kids into this world. Our bodies' amazement has created life and not to mention the profound strength it takes to push a baby out into this world. But this notion that to be strong, we have to be everything to everyone, almost putting on a facade of perfection.
Has this fallacy caused us, moms, to feel weak instead? We are crumbling inside with depression, loneliness, stress, and anxiety that we portray as anything but how we make ourselves appear outside.
We have heard it many times before; there is strength in asking for help when we need it. There is strength in letting someone know that sometimes we are not okay. There is strength in taking a break and just being alone. There is strength in taking care of our mental health and receiving therapy to sort out our issues.
There is strength in knowing that you are doing the best you can and that you are not perfect as a mom. There is strength in knowing that as a community of moms, you can trust and lean on other moms when you feel weak.
Until next time Mom Tribe, don't be afraid to tap into the strength of others. Be well and take care.
