As many of you know, I am a SURVIVOR of sexual assault! Although this happened more than 20 years ago, I still encounter the trauma of the assault to this day.
When many people think of PTSD, there is probably one type of individual that comes to mind, our war heroes. But PTSD really relates to any traumatic event that occurs within our lives.
As a survivor, know that what happened to you does not define you, and it certainly does not dictate your worth. If the incident is fresh, I know this is hard to hear, but from one survivor to another, you are WORTHY!

Yes, the day or days will play over again and again in your mind. You will play different scenarios in your mind to possibly get to a different outcome. There will be things that trigger responses and bring you back to that moment.
Remember, your healing is continuous, and although I will like to say one day time will fully heal you, I not sure that is possible. It's a journey.
When my strength was not enough, when there was no one around for me to lean on, I found my strength in God. Please know that if you are a survivor, take one day at a time. And if you know a survivor, show them mercy and patience, as they are trying to pick up the fragments that this trauma has left behind.
