Apologize if you did something wrong, don't apologize if you did something right, and they just can't handle it. - Rigel J. Dawson
As a kid, I recall my mother doing this with my dad, or even as her kids got older. She called it keeping the peace. However, as she kept the peace, she also took accountability for not doing anything wrong, while the wrong party just walked away.
As women, we do this in corporate America. We apologize for leaving because our kids are sick or when we have to go to a family event that takes us away from work. Why? Why do we feel the need to apologize for something that isn't our fault?
So the next time you feel an urge to say sorry for something that doesn't deserve a sorry from you, don't!
